This iMac needs to last a bit longer before I replace it and I'd really like to find a solution to the Mail app crashing issue.
Something has changed with either Google or Apple in their mail service. I'm on a 2011 iMac, I'm not upgrading as the last time I did, it wiped out my graphics card and I had to replace it. When I call Apple and they hear I'm on El Capitan, they are less than enthusiastic to help and all they said is for me to upgrade. No clue as to why it does this, it started out of the blue sometime around Aug 2020. I have several Gmail accts and one iCloud acct. This can happen a couples times per day up to about four times per day.
I can be working in Safari, Firefox, Photoshop, Excel, etc and all of a sudden, Mail disappears from my smaller monitor followed by a popup error msg saying Mail stopped unexpectedly and giving me the option to ignore, report or reopen it. I have one monitor dedicated to email and do most of my work on another larger monitor. Sometimes it will crash when I am in my email working with it and sometimes it crashes when I'm on my other screen working in a diff app. Mail starts just fine for me upon waking my iMac from sleep.
